Sky Captain's Reserve Brandy 8 Year 375ml

88 Proof / 44% ABV

Sky Captain 8 Year Reserve Brandy from The Distillarium Yakima Washington with globe backdrop

2025 Sip Magazine – Judges’ Pick

For eight years, The Sky Captain has quietly steered this spirit to its summit.

Crafted from rare white grape varietals and patiently aged in oak barrels, this reserve brandy represents the height of what time and intention can create.
Every barrel was hand-selected and blended to achieve a beautifully balanced 88 proof expression that is smooth, layered, and endlessly expressive.
This is not a brandy that rushes to impress. It unfolds slowly, with grace and depth that only long
aging can deliver.

The Yakima Terroir: A Masterpiece of Climate & Soil

Located in Yakima, Washington on the same parallel as Bordeaux, our brandy is a true expression of place.

• Less than six inches of rainfall annually, irrigated by Cascade snowmelt for flavor concentration
• Ancient volcanic and Missoula flood soils layered over basalt bedrock
• European varietals grown on their own rootstock due to pest-resistant soils and cold winters
• Dramatic diurnal shifts that intensify varietal aromatics

The Triple Cask Aging Process

Triplexium is defined by time and wood interaction. Each stage contributes a distinct structural layer.

Triplexium begins its maturation in new American oak barrels, developing foundational bourbon characteristics of caramel, toasted vanilla, oak sweetness, and structural backbone.

The bourbon is transferred into French and Hungarian oak barrels previously used in The Distillarium’s American brandy program. These European oak casks introduce refined fruit notes, subtle spice, and tannin-driven complexity rarely found in traditional bourbon maturation.

Finally, the spirit returns to American oak bourbon barrels to harmonize the layered profile. The result is balance, integration, and a long structured finish. Total maturation typically exceeds six years.
